EARLY INTERNSHIP

The Moi university administration from the school of Art and social sciences under the department of Sociology and Psychology has decided to send its third year students taking Sociology, Psychology, Concealing psychology and Community development into an indefinite internship program as from the 2nd of May to the 31st of August. It is a statement that is yet to be confirm. However, the students affected do not agar with that decision.
Kelvin, as student taking Concealing psychology says the decision was unfair and did not consider their welfare. “The administration knows that if it sends us to an early internship, it will interfere with our next semester considering we are only in our first semester. Furthermore, we will be the only third year group in session come august, and it’s the worst scenario ever.”  He wishes the administration would reconsider their decision over this crucial matter.
The third years going for an early internship would be an interference to their schedule considering they were not prepared for it. They are only in their third year first semester, some of the skills they require to implore during internship are to be taught in the second year. So what exactly are they going to do during the internship? They are not yet equipped. Why send them that early unless they are creating room for another group to occupy. Which is not quite right. Each group should be allowed to finish their tem and leave for attachment.
The Moi university administration should sit and rethink their decision. These students are not yet prepared. Their parents are not yet prepared because they vividly know their children will go for internship in august not May. It should not make these third years victims of mismanagement.
Furthermore, the syllabus is not yet finished. Third year studies should be finished for any student to head for internship.
