It is said that
authority is to be challenged. Lately personal vendetta have been lodged
against reporters in Moi University by Moi University students organization
(MUSO) because reporters have tirelessly exposed scandalous misleads and
non-performance of these leaders.
David Okoth also
known as Sanchez the director of security and accommodation has been accused of
physically assaulting and threatening Eddy ‘Chinedu’ Ashioya, a reporter with the 3rd Eye (a media club in
Moi) for exposing major embezzlement of fund under article “GHOST PROJECT”.
The Ghost Project
as it is called are projects created by the student leaders to allegedly cater students’
welfare but in real sense it’s one of their ways of squandering students’
money.
The undertakings
of these Ghost Project till December 18th 2015 (as per the research
done reporter Eddy Ashioya) includes:
Crowd control during graduation costing
155,000 kshs despite having security guards in the University.
Visits to Helb offices costing Kshs 27,000
yet Nairobi is barely kshs 800 away, and a comfortable lodging bed and
breakfast is merely kshs.2700.
Handing over and to facilitate 29th
SGC at a combined cost of kshs 88,700.
Facilitation of clubs and societies at a cost
of kshs 70,000 yet report has shown they barely attends any of the clubs except
the famous F2.
Cohesion among the students lingering around
kshs 50,000, too expensive right? Even for a super glue.
Talent promotion at an alarming position of
Kshs 70,000.
Broadcast and film conference at Kshs 78,000
while the Moi website is as incomplete as Hostel M.
Below is a copy
of the document that the 3rd Eye has in its possession of how the student money
is being embezzled.
A copy of the
document in 3rd Eye’s possession in details
As of 23rd October last year only kshs
2,408,950 was remaining. So students of Moi fraternity are left to wonder what
will happen next. Are these projects really worth such money when some of the
students are living hopelessly pirating and commuting from one place to another?
Yet these excess
money could be used to help needy students.
My questions to
the MUSO leaders is, are these projects relevant or are they not?
Leaders should be
quite aware that all their moves are being watched and should keep in mind they
were elected to serve the students not themselves.
